More on quilting in Jerusalem

Quilting is something relatively new here in Israel. The ladies here have always been into crafts, usually it was knitting and crocheting. Many girls here learn how to sew clothing in school, and they do beautiful work, often sewing their own wedding gowns and formal wear for all of their sisters. But quilting has really caught on! There is only one quilt shop in the country; another one opened, but I think it closed down pretty quickly. The one that's still open has some nice fabrics, but not as much as a quilt shop in America usually has. So most of the quilters shop for fabric online and when they go for visits to the United States.
Even with the difficulty of getting fabric, they still manage to do beautiful work. I hope to post some photos after our next meeting...

There are two quilt shops in Israel, one in the north of the country and one in the south. The one in the south just moved but it didn't close.

Is there a quilting group in Jerusalem? I'd love to sew with and learn from other experienced quilters.
Thanks,
Debbie
