Never Say Never!

Well, I swore I would never iron shirts. I HATE ironing shirts! Lucky for me, my children love to iron, and my DH is happy enough to wear permanent press.
But suddenly today I find myself ironing shirts--but not the regular kind of shirts! When my DH came from the States last week, he brought me Bonnie Hunter's great book, Scraps and Shirttails, and after reading through it I finally got up the guts to start cutting into the pile of striped and plaid shirts I have been accumulating. Decided not to make any of the patterns from the book, and instead am making the Jacks on Six pattern. I love this simple, traditional, and sweet pattern. Bonnie gives the instructions for it on her website, http://www.quiltville.com/ .
By the way, I found her website through the online group, Stashbusters, on Yahoo. I love this group. Everyone is so helpful and giving. It's a great support for people who are trying to cut back on their stash and finish up all those UFO's like me. Believe it or not, I have been pretty much No-Buy for the last 3 years. It isn't easy! That's one reason I'm so happy to be using these shirts for quilting--I get them for free, so it's found fabric. No guilt!

I don't iron except for my quilting either! I love the block and the quilt will look wonderful. I love traditional, scrappy quilts!
