My Day Off!

Ended up cancelling every plan I had made for today. Didn't go to the meeting my husband and I were supposed to go to, skipped the quilt meeting in Beitar, I'm just staying home! The Pope landed in Israel an hour ago, and the traffic in Jerusalem is impossible. So we are home for the day. And that's just fine with me because I am working on sewing down the binding for my Sister's Choice quilt, no pictures because you all have seen enough pictures of that quilt already, I'm sure you're tired of it by now.
Some people hate hate hate doing bindings. They will quilt the entire thing, and then the quilt will languish in a closet somewhere because they just don't want to sit down and stitch the binding. But I love sewing the binding. Hand-sewing is so relaxing for me, and this quilt I'm working on is sooo soft and pleasant to the touch. I think the Fairfield 80/20 batting (80% cotton and 20% poly) is making it a very nice soft quilt. I didn't really like this batting at the beginning, but then I started to appreciate its good points. Nice and soft, and easy to needle.
Weather here is warming up, today is more pleasant. Went on the treadmill 1/2 an hour in the morning. That really starts the day off great. And surprise surprise! My DH went on the treadmill when I was finished. We'll see how long he can keep this up. They say it takes 60 days to create a new habit. (I'll bet it takes a lot less than that to create a BAD habit!) I think the exercise tuckered him out--he's fast asleep on the sofa now. Maybe I can finish off my binding before he wakes up. I think the quilt is going to be for him for his birthday, it is really a masculine looking thing.
I forgot to mention the Very Important Thing I did last week. On the day when I organized my Stash, I sat down with a pad and pen and wrote down all the UFO's I have to finish up. And don't think it was easy--it's a pretty embarrassing and long list. But what a difference it made to put it down on paper. Instead of sitting around in my brain giving me stress, it's there on paper and when I finish each one I can just cross it off. Of course I would far prefer to work on some new things--I love the piecing part especially--but no no no. I am going to finish what I've started. I think it's going to take around a year.
And how sad it feels not to piece something new, especially when my Cheryl Ann's Portable Design Wall arrived with my husband last Thursday. It is so cool--easy to set up and take down, and when it's taken apart it stores in this adorable little bag. I have to take a picture and show you. I don't think you can make quilts, especially scrap quilts, without a design wall, and now I have one. Well, it's just gonna sit in its little bag and wait till I'm ready to use it. So there.

Wow, you made a list of your UFOs! You must be keen to get them done. I can't wait to see a picture of your design wall. I sure need one of those!
