I was looking through some my bins the other day, and discovered...these...
Sixteen blocks I must have pieced about 7 years ago, made with Karen Stone's pattern, Lady Liberty Goes to California. It was really easy to make those spikes with the foundation papers. They came out with perfect points every time. And even the curved parts weren't too bad.
Why didn't I make the rest of the blocks? Did I run out of fabric? Or out of patience? I guess I'll never know, but maybe I should square these up and sew them together. Then I'll see if I have some fabric to use for borders.
I really like these fabrics. This was the first time I had used brights, and it opened up a whole new world for me. In fact Karen Stone's original quilt was made with darker colors, and old-fashioned prints, and I like it in brights a lot better. A different look, I guess. That's one of the things I like about quilting. You can take the same pattern and make it in different fabrics, and you have a whole different quilt. I like it that every quilter can express herself in her own way.
