Quilts and Other Beauty

This was taken at our quilt meeting in Beitar last week. Shifra worked on this Attic Windows quilt for quite a while, collecting fabrics until she finally had just the right ones. The brown fabric you can see framing the "windows" was found at one of the vendors' tables when we attended the retreat of the Israel Quilters' Association. didn't it come out perfect? And look at those borders--so unusual!
My husband and I attended a wedding near Tel Aviv last week. It was quite a bit fancier than the weddings we are accustomed to in Jerusalem. The hall was VERY fancy, with waterfalls and little bridges, and colored lights, and lots of palm trees growing inside. But the part I liked the best was this beautiful mosaic floor in the entrance to the ballroom where the meal was served. I love the pomegranates, which a common motif in Israeli art. Don't you think this design could be adapted into a lovely quilt one day?

So, Susan, you're already gathering the fabrics and making templates to make that mosaic quilt...right?! Just kidding, but it WOULD make a beautiful quilt ;)

Shifra always makes such beautiful quilts. And the tile design would make an awesome quilt pattern.

What a wonderful mosaic--this design has been around for centuries and is still fresh
