A Finish!

Sorry for this bad photo. The wind was blowing and kept whipping my Sailboats quilt up and down. But at least it's finished, and I can't wait to give it to that new little baby boy.
Yes, I think it came out pretty darn cute. And no, I'm not making one of these again. This was the last time I made blocks that all matched, and while it was fun making the first one or two, by the time I got to twelve, I was pretty BORED. So please remind me next time, not to make 12 blocks all the same.  I now know for sure...I love the scrappy look!

The other good news is, the rainy season has come to Israel! Yesterday morning, we had a nice downpour in Jerusalem, and today we got another bit. It doesn't rain here from early spring until fall (sometimes it doesn't rain until December or January), and we need water very badly here, so when it rains, it is a very happy event.

Last Thursday was the first anniversary of my dear mother-in-law's passing. We gathered at the cemetery to pay our respects and pray. It's hard to believe she has been gone for a whole year. She was such a big part of my life, and the life of everyone in the family. My husband spoke about her and said, the main thing about Mommy was that she loved all of her 100 descendants unconditionally. She never judged any of them, and made each one feel like they were her favorite. Mom, you are never far from my thoughts. You were like a mother to me, and I'm grateful to you every day for your gentle kindness and love. You taught me so much about being a grandmother and a great-grandmother. I hope I can communicate that unconditional love to all of my descendants just as you did.

The quilt turned out wonderfully. It may have been boring but it was worth it.
This was a lovely tribute to a very special person.

Your sailboats turned out nice but I agree with you, I like making scrappy quilts best too. And you have a beautiful way of honoring your precious mother-in-law.

Susan although I agree that there is a boring factor in making identical blocks this quilt gives me a very calm feeling. A perfect quilt for a new baby BOY. Beautiful work.
