You may have heard that the south of Israel was hit by more than 200 rockets from Gaza last week. Our married grandson and his wife had enough of running into the shelter and decided to take a break here in Jerusalem--at our house. They brought with them Binni, aged two, and Avi, aged 6 months. So we had some fun for three days with the little ones in the house. It was lively! 
On the way home from Beitar on Monday, I spied a beautiful garden with tulips. The bus was going fast, so they're blurry, but at least now we know spring is coming. 
The beginning of a leaf on my neighbor's fig tree. In a week or two this leaf will be enormous. 
Wildflowers are popping up everywhere. 
And on the quilting front: while looking through my Very Scary Stash, I came across a ziploc bag with 1 1/2 inch strips. A HONEY BUN, to be exact. This fabric is from the Objects of Desire line by Sandy Gervais. I just loved the combination of aqua and orange, but have had it for a couple of years and never made anything from it. So I thought, WHY NOT? It's true, I have too many projects going on now alreaady. So what's one more? And guess what I decided to do. You may have seen the Jelly Roll races that are popping up here and there on the internet. My favorite one is on the Missouri Star Quilt Company website. I love that Jenny Doan and her tutorials! I think the tutorial for the Jelly Roll Race must have been done twice, because on the original she ran out of thread and kept on sewing--there is a LOT of sewing on this one, folks--and on the remake there is a just a WARNING to make sure you have thread on the spool and in the bobbin at all times. That Jenny Doan, she cracks me up! So right now I am sewing all these strips end to end and side to side and I hope one day I'll be finished. Will let you know if I do. Hopefully with a finished quilt top to show for it. It's true I'm using a Honey Bun and it's supposed to be with a Jelly Roll, but I had to try it and see if it would work with a Honey Bun too. I'll letcha know.

It's wonderful that your grandson and his family had a place to escape for a few days. And it certainly looks like spring has come to your neighborhood.
where did your family come from. My son from Ofakim was going to come but decided not to, but did come for shabbos. Next time you are in Beitar as you pass my house take a pix of my "dying " nectarine tree. You can see it from the bus, it is hanging all over the bus stop.
