Life seems to be rushing along at breakneck speed nowadays. The school year is drawing to a close, and Menucha is busy studying for tests and rehearsing for her recitals in Dance and Voice. I have been working on quilts of my own, but also managed to finish a quilt for Sara. We have had lots of company (more expected today) and I have been taking three classes.
So it was really good to spend the morning yesterday with Christine. We walked about the center of town, got breakfast at a nice little vegetarian restaurant called Village Green, and explored the area of the City Hall. Christine pointed out some lion statues that I had never noticed before. Some years back there was a competition of sorts, and various artists were given lions to decorate as they pleased. Each one was completely different.
Now they are scattered all around the city, in public parks and even in private yards. Whenever I come across one, I have to get a picture.
This one was painted with scenes of Jerusalem. Very peaceful and natural.
This one was done up in mosaics, using very shiny tiles. In the background you can see part of the ancient wall of Jerusalem, and also the very modern light rail train. Jerusalem is a study in contrasts, with the old and the new side-by-side everywhere you look.

This lion was done up to be rather feminine. Some slightly risque underwear, fishnet stockings, jewelry, a pink mane, and lots of girly makeup on this one!

Last night I attended my granddaughter's music recital. All the girls from the music program performed on their various instruments--guitar, keyboard, violin, flute, recorder, clarinet. They all sang in the choir. The last piece of music was performed by all the music teachers playing together. What a lovely evening!

Oooo! Love the lion with the Jerusalem scenes but the girly lion is a bit strange.
