I've wanted to make Bonnie Hunter's "Cactus Patch" quilt for a long time. First of all, because I love the quilt, in all its spikey, pointy colorfulness. And second, because it's time to use some of those thrifted shirts I've been saving up. The other day I put the first block together.
It's always good to make a sample block when you start something new. While I like how the block came out, and it was definitely FUN to do, I can for sure see some things I will do differently in the next block, like using narrower strings for the pieced sections.

I like the personality that those thrifted shirts give that block.
