While the center of this little quilt was done a while ago, it has taken a while to decide on the borders. I actually found the fabric Kathleen Tracy used in her original quilt, at a quilt shop in Australia, $22 Australian for a meter of fabric and $15.20 for shipping. Thought about it for a bit, actually considered doing it, and then finally came to my senses. There was no WAY I was going to pay that much for a yard of fabric.
So I let go of the idea. And went through my stash. And found fabric that was just fine for the borders. I even decided not to make the corner squares on the outside border, as was done in the original pattern. It looked fine to me just like this, with a nice warm brown all the way around. What do you think? Any opinions?

Susan, the quilt is lovely. Much nicer than what's in the book. Sometimes we just have to do our own thing.

Very striking, Susan! I love it. Did you choose the placements randomly or was there a plan?
Susan, I think it looks great. Beautiful. Good choices, especially saving all that cash!
